At ilovesweets, we believe great workplaces are built by great people.

The concept is intensely on our minds as we wrap up our second week with our newest intern who is providing support in Logistics. They have quickly developed a strong understanding of our processes and operations. Their curiosity, attention to detail, eagerness to learn, and positive attitude have already made a meaningful impact. From smiles on our faces to discovering that this person may be a great long-term fit, it truly has been a wonderful past two weeks!

As we prepare to launch a slew of new products, we wanted to resume talking about our commitment to Sustainability- both in regard to our community and also more broadly. Today, we are focusing on how part of our approach to Community Sustainability is internal: building and nurturing an inclusive workplace.

Our bakery is committed to creating an environment where people with different backgrounds, perspectives, and abilities can thrive. We believe that inclusion makes us stronger, and we take pride in building a workplace where every team member is welcomed, supported, and given the chance to succeed.

One of the highlights of our newest internship experience has been the mentorship this intern has been receiving from another member of our team. That team member also started out as an intern here, and 12 years later, they certainly are thriving. They do top-notch work in supporting our kitchen, our packaging teams, and they also have a crucial role in data processing. Watching the mentoring support take place from a now experienced former apprentice has been so inspiring that we couldn’t help but take a moment to write about it.

Seeing our team members support one another and succeed together is one of the sweetest things we get to be a part of along with seeing people discover their strengths and develop new skills. Whether someone is joining us as an intern, starting their first job, or building a long-term career, we want our bakery to be a place where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and empowered to do their best work.
